How Many Square Meters Are In 1 packet Of Floor Tiles?

Welcome to yet another wonderful edition on www.guardianconstructions.com. On today’s edition, we are going to be learning a very simple but very important topic for every Building Contractor out there. We will be learning How to Calculate the number of square meters in one packet of floor tile
I chose this topic because it will enable you as an estimator know the quantity of tiles to buy for a particular project provided you have taken off properly and obtained the total area to be tiled.
Before we do this properly, let us first know the dimension of tiles an the number of pieces of tiles in every packet of tile you purchase

Tile Dimension Available in Nigerian Market

In Nigeria tile market, you will find tiles in the following Dimensions
300 x 300
300 x 600
400 x 400
400 x 250
600 x 600
Note: All Dimension are in Millimeter (mm)

How Many Piece of tiles exist in one packet?

Having known the dimensions of tiles available in the market, let us now consider the quantity of tiles in each carton/Packet. I will recommend you know the number of tiles in every packet you buy as this will enable you calculate correctly the number of square meters it can cover
For a packet of 300 x 300 tiles, there are 17 pieces
For a packet of 400 x 400 tiles, there are 12 pieces
For a packet of 400 x 250 tiles, there are 15 pieces
For a packet of 600 x 600 tiles, there are 5 pieces
Now we know how many pieces of tiles exists in a carton

Next, lets Calculate the number of square meters exists in a packet of floor tile purchased from a supplier.

How Many Square Meters Exists in 1 packet of floor tiles?

Now that we have been able to determine the number of tiles on every packet, it is now easy to estimate the number of square meters that can be covered by a packet.

In order to estimate the number of square meters in a packet of tile, we must know the surface area of each tile that makes up the packet and then multiply by the total number of tiles in the packet.

Its that simple…

For a packet of 300 x 300 tiles, there are 17 pieces

This gives us: 300 x 300 x 17 = 1.53m2

For a packet of 400 x 400 tiles, there are 12 pieces

This gives us: 400  x 400 x 12 = 1.92m2
For a packet of 400 x 250 tiles, there are 15 pieces

This gives us: 400 x 250 x 15 = 1.5m2
For a packet of 600 x 600 tiles, there are 4 pieces
This gives us: 600 x 600 x 4 = 1.44m2
Now that you have known the total square meters in every packet of tile out there in the market, all you have to do is divide the value given to you by an estimator by the corresponding value on this page.
If you do this, you will be able to know the number of packets of tiles to buy for your tiling project without wasting much resources!

  1. Nigerian 60×60 are usually 4 pieces or 3 pieces which should be 60×60×4=1.44sm or 60×60×3=1.08sm
You rarely see 5 pieces unless some nigerian made spanish designed tiles.
